Miriam Grunwald Farkas

Profile:

I have worked in education since 1996. Being a teacher has provided me a better understanding of the notion of being multitask oriented. An important part of the job includes being a team player and incorporating a positive attitude each and every single day as a role model. I firmly believe that adept communicative skills and a good work ethic must also simultaneously be present in any successful work-relationship. At this time, I have decided to take a sabbatical from teaching and am presently looking forward to challenging myself with diverse and creative work opportunities. An avid lover of culture and language in general, I have recently added freelance proofreading, editing and translating to my daily routine. I have also started interpreting and doing voice-overs/narrating work. I have been  committed to the Borka Project for the past few months and am happy to be a part of its creative and inspiring team.


Work history: 
The Borka Project, December 2015-present:

Responsible for all English translations and proofreading in the project (ie: screenplay, tenders, website, etc.).
Responsible for uploading Borka Bloggers’ English and Hungarian content on the borkaworld.com website (Administrator).
Responsible for organizing meetings (ie: Borka Bloggers’, photoshoot).
Took part at the National Hungarian Baby and Mama/Papa Meeting in Budapest in April 2016 (Exhibiting/selling Borka themed materials).
Took part and was awarded special mention for the Borka and the Magic Dress series at the Visgrád Animation Festival’s Pitching Event in Trebon, Czech Republic in May 2016.
Part of the transmedial development team of the project/webshop.

Áldás Primary School, January 1999-June 2015, Native English teacher

Successfully taught in a specialized Arts-English program in lower and upper primary where many of our students won national or district competitions based on culture/language knowledge and/or pronunciation on a yearly basis.    
As homeroom teacher, was responsible for aiding students develop as individuals, as well as part of a group, in order to go on to the high-school of their dreams based on their skills, abilities and school results. 
Raised cultural awareness through being an active part of two flourishing Comenius programs. The latter even led to a present pen-pal project with our Spanish colleagues due to excellent communication.

Lauder Javne Primary and Secondary School September 1996- June 1999,

English teacher

Taught English language and culture in upper-primary and high-school classes.
As homeroom teacher, was responsible for aiding students develop as individuals, as well as part of a group, in order to help prepare them for high-school. 
Filled-in as Head of the English Department for a year while a colleague was on maternity leave.
